BMI had the pleasure of having the Director of Men’s Health for NYU Medical Center, Dr. Steven Lamm at this weeks Black Male Initiative meeting to discuss his new book “No Guts, No Glory”. In his new book Dr. Lamm recommends “start with the gut”. Dr. Lamm believes “the gut is the source of many seemingly unrelated physical and mental disorders that afflict millions of Americans—such as kidney stones, asthma, a ruptured abdominal aorta, and even cancer or a heart attack” – Dr.Lamm.

As various municipalities within the United States are still debating on whether to legalize the marrying of same-sex couple, France and New Zealand have become the latest countries to legalize gay marriage. So, Brothers For Excellence members and friends of the Black Male Initiative (BMI), what do you think about these countries moves on the issue? Do you approve or disapprove? Do you think the U.S. federal government needs to act more vigorously on legalizing gay marriage or is this a states-rights issue? Is this an issue too uncomfortable to create public policy around?
Sound off! We want to hear your opinions!
Check out our Brothers For Excellence member, Kwame Ocran moderating a panel at the CUNY Macaulay Honors College.
I found out this Spring Break that the two can actually go together.
