Today, we had our first meeting of the Fall 2013 semester! The turnout was great, as we saw over 20 students. The new student members brought a great amount of energy, and our old members seemed very enthusiastic about what BMI has in store for this year. Dr. Cantarella gave a great speech about the historical events involving the March on Washington. On the topic of history, she was also at the White House this past weekend. She said a few words for the showing of Whitney Young’s documentary. Whitney Young was one of the six activists who gave speeches at the March on Washington in 1963. He also happens to be her father. It was a great meeting, and the attendees really enjoyed the company of each other. Until next time, have a great day!
On Thursday, August 22, 2013, we held our annual Welcome Day celebration! Based on the success of the event, we are confident that this year is going to be a year to remember. Our prospective members were very enthusiastic about our initiative, and we are looking forward to learning more about their life experiences and seeing what great things they will bring to the brotherhood. Dr. Cantarella and Dean Rose gave words of wisdom, expressing the importance of education and student involvement. Also, the team leaders showcased their exemplary leadership abilities, which our new members really seemed to gravitate toward. Lastly, we are very excited for our first meeting on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at 1 PM! See you there!!
